Sasha Uzunov: Photo-Journalist & Independent Film Maker

I'm an Australian freelance photo-journalist with over 20 years experience and an independent film maker. My specialist areas are: international politics, military affairs, and sport (in particular soccer)

I have also taken photos of world celebrities.

I'm probably the most versatile media man in Australia as I can report, write, photograph and shoot video footage.

I'm available for full time or part time work, or as a stringer.

I've worked in South-eastern Europe (Balkans) in 1992-93 and 2002-2003 and Iraq in 2005 and Afghanistan in 2007 and 2008. Video of that 2007 Afghan trip can be viewed on:

I served in the Australian Army as an infantry soldier, admin clerk, parachutist, driver, reporter and photographer for seven years and did 2 tours of duty in East Timor with the United Nations.

My philosophy is that I will try everything that is humanly possible to get the story.

In May 1992 I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (Australia). I'm member of the International Federation of Journalists.

The film made its international debut at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival in October 2009 and received a commendation--a 2009 Platinum Reel Award from the Nevada Film Festival.
